A Bowl Before Sydney: Plaza Premium Lounge Terminal 1 Review

1–2 minutes

There are airport meals you eat because you have time to kill, and then there are the ones that make you stop for a second and genuinely enjoy where you are. Before heading to Sydney, I dropped into Plaza Premium Lounge at Terminal 1 in Singapore, and one bowl immediately became the highlight of my visit: the laksa.

A Singapore send-off before Sydney

Airport lounges can sometimes feel predictable, especially when it comes to buffet food. What caught my attention here was the live food station. The board offered Hainanese chicken rice, Singapore laksa and vegetarian noodle soup — familiar local flavors that make sense when you are having one last meal in Singapore before flying out.

The laksa was the one

I went for the laksa, and this was easily my favorite part of the lounge. It arrived hot, creamy and properly comforting, with that unmistakable combination of coconut richness, chili and spice that makes laksa so satisfying. The noodles carried the broth well, and the chili on top gave me the option to push the heat a little further.

Was I analyzing every spoonful like I was judging a restaurant? No. I was about to get on a plane to Sydney. What mattered was that I wanted another spoonful immediately after the first. Sometimes that tells you more than a complicated tasting note ever could.

In much simpler words: the laksa was super duper delish.

My pre-flight verdict

For me, a good airport lounge does not need to turn the hours before a flight into some grand luxury experience. It needs to give you somewhere comfortable to settle in, something enjoyable to eat and enough of a reset before the next part of the journey.

On this visit, Plaza Premium Lounge Terminal 1 did exactly that. And if you are deciding what to order at the hot food station, I know what I would choose again. Get the laksa.

Next stop: Sydney.
