An egg slicer uses parallel wires or blades to cut peeled hard-cooked eggs into even slices, and some models also produce wedges.
Selection and Construction
Choose taut, aligned wires or sharp food-safe blades and a base that supports the egg without slipping.
Professional Use
Cool and peel eggs before slicing. Centre the egg and close the cutter in one smooth movement; do not force it through frozen or unusually hard foods that can bend the wires.
Cleaning, Safety, and Storage
Clean promptly according to the material and manufacturer’s instructions, paying attention to joints, wires, teeth and other food-contact areas. Dry completely before storage and remove damaged equipment from service.
Chef’s Note
Specialised tools are worthwhile when they improve control, repeatability, yield or safety. They should not replace sound knife skills or safe handling when a simpler tool performs the task equally well.
