A cherry pitter removes the hard stone from cherries while keeping much of the fruit intact.
Selection and Construction
Choose a pitter that aligns the fruit securely with the plunger and is easy to clean around moving parts.
Professional Use
Place one cherry in the holder, align the stem cavity as directed and press smoothly. Inspect finished fruit because an occasional pit can remain or fragment.
Cleaning, Safety, and Storage
Clean promptly according to the material and manufacturer’s instructions, paying attention to joints, wires, teeth and other food-contact areas. Dry completely before storage and remove damaged equipment from service.
Chef’s Note
Specialised tools are worthwhile when they improve control, repeatability, yield or safety. They should not replace sound knife skills or safe handling when a simpler tool performs the task equally well.
